Inspired by the countless padlocks that line the sides of the Pont des Arts, Chloé’s new fragrance, entitled “Love Story,” tells a tale of lovers, who entwined in a deep romance, secure a lock to the infamous Parisian bridge as a sign of their love and affection. In order to serve as a lasting reminder of their immovable passion and commitment, the key to the lock is thrown into the River Seine which flows below, and so the story of their love remains eternally fastened in the French capital.
Fronted by Clémence Poésy, the scent, which was launched yesterday, was developed by Anne Flipo and is a departure from the fashion house’s other playfully fragrant offerings. Showcasing key notes of neroli, orange blossom, and jasmine stephanotis, underpinned by tones of musk and wood, “Love Story,” is as uniquely complex as its name implies. At once rich, sensuous, clean, and fresh, the fragrance, which will be available for purchase in September, pays homage to Paris’ enduring reputation as the capital of love, and to the brand’s heritage of undeniable French charm.
